AUSTRALIA
What I know about Australia:
They have kangaroos, the most known city is Sydney, they speak English, located in Oseania.
Australia, officially: commonwealth of Australia, is a country in Oseania. Australia is a English-speaking country. The area is 7,5 million square kilometers, and the country is considered as the sixth largest country in the world. The capital is Canberra. The population in Australia is slightly over 23 million, and the most populous city is also Sydney, which constitutes 20% of Australia´s population. Australia is a monarchy and Elizabeth II is the queen. The most of Australia consists of semi-arid and desert, but there is also alpine heaths and tropical rainforests.
Sydney is the capital in the State; New South Wales, but not the capital in Australia. Sydney is Australia´s most populous, largest and eldest city. The city is the most multicultural city in Australia, but it´s also one of the most multicultural cities in the world.
Sydney is also a very popular tourist destination. The cover above is a picture of Sydney´s famous brigde, Sydney Harbour Brigde, and Sydney Opera House to the left, which looks like a flower.
ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES
Australia´s carbon dioxide emissions per capita are among the highest in the world. Rainfall in Australia has slightly increased over the past century. Water sources in the southeastern areas of Australia have depleted due to increasing population in urban areas coupled with climate change factors such as persistent prolonged drought. Temperatures in Australia have also risen dramatically and nights have become warmer. A carbon tax was introduced in 2011, in an effort to reduce the impact of climate change and despite criticism, it has significantly reduced Australia's carbon dioxide emissions. But yet it´s quite critical.
